Founding 100 — free for life, 100 people only

What is this?
And should I buy it?

Point your camera at anything in a Korean convenience store, Olive Young, or supermarket. PICNIGO answers both — in about 3 seconds, in English.

Why we rebuilt it

She read every word.
She still bought nothing.

I handed the first version of this app to a friend visiting Korea and watched her use it in Olive Young. It worked. She scanned a serum and got the ingredients, the price, all of it in English.

Then she just stood there. She read the whole thing, put it back, picked up a different bottle. Scanned that. Read it. Put it back.

She walked out with an empty basket.

That's when it hit me. I'd spent months solving the language problem, and the language problem was never the problem. She could read the label. She still had twelve nearly identical bottles in front of her and no way to choose.

So we rebuilt the whole thing around the decision instead of the description.

Translation apps

  • Tell you what the label says
  • Leave you standing in the aisle
  • Twelve options, zero guidance
  • You Google it. You still guess.

PICNIGO — the part after

  • Reads the label, then reads the shelf
  • Flags vegan, halal, gluten, allergens
  • Rates spice 1–5 so you don't cry
  • Tells you which one to actually take
One photo, five answers

The questions you'd ask a local.

"What even is this?"
Plain-English explanation, not a literal translation of the package.
"Can I eat it?"
Vegan, halal, gluten-free and allergen flags read straight off the ingredient list.
"How spicy, honestly?"
A 1–5 scale calibrated to Korean products, not to a label that says 'hot'.
"Is this a good price?"
Price and calories, so you know if the shelf tag is a real deal.
"How do I even eat this?"
Water line, microwave time, what to mix in. The stuff the box assumes you know.
"Which one should I take?"
The new part. Out of the near-identical options in front of you, the one that fits you — and why.
What's Hot

What travelers are
actually scanning right now

Not a list somebody wrote. A live count of what real visitors picked up in Korean stores this week — and it's being built from the first 100 members' scans.

Founding 100

100 people get it free for life.

Not a discount code. You don't buy your way in — you earn it by scanning in Korea.

Straight with you: one tab — What's Hot — is still under construction inside the app. That's not something we're hiding, it's the reason this is capped. What ends up in that tab is decided by what the first 100 people actually scan. You're not an early customer. You're the dataset.

Drop your email below. You get a permanent member number, #1 to #100. No card, no account, no survey.

STEP 2 — IN KOREA

Scan 10 products

Unclaimed spots return to the pool. When #100 is claimed, this closes — there is no second batch.

Questions.

Is the app actually out?

Yes. It's live on the App Store right now, free, with 10 scans and no signup required. The Founding 100 program is a separate thing on top of it.

Do I have to be a foreigner to join?

It's built for people visiting Korea, and Step 2 requires scanning inside Korea — so it self-selects. If you're not coming to Korea, the free-for-life spot won't activate.

What does "free for life" actually cover?

100 scans per month, forever, on the account you reserved. A typical two-week trip runs 30–50 scans, so it's more than a trip needs.

Which stores does it work in?

CU, GS25, 7-Eleven, Emart24, Olive Young, Daiso, supermarkets and duty free. It also covers 20+ countries beyond Korea.

Will you email me a lot?

No. One email when your spot is ready, and one when What's Hot ships. That's the whole plan.
